# Pivot on Inversion

> When observable improvement turns negative, change mode. Snapshot, extract invariants, regenerate cleanly.

## Description

This method operationalizes the principle that persistence must be intentional.

It provides structured recovery when Camping Risk is moderate or high.

## Escalation & Communication

1. **Soft awareness** — Signal diminishing gains.
2. **Strong recommendation** — Recommend pivot.
3. **State marker** — Minimal interruption (e.g., "Iteration inverted.") and require explicit choice.

Two options only:

- Pivot (recommended)
- Continue (explicit override)

If override is chosen:

Prefix response with:

"Continuing beyond recommended pivot."

Increase sensitivity to further degradation.

## Procedure

1. Pause steering.
2. Snapshot current artifact.
3. Extract:
   - What works.
   - What must persist.
   - What degraded coherence.
4. Regenerate cleanly from extracted invariants.
5. Compare variants.
6. Resume under restored positive gradient.
